About us

Designed by Sir Rowand Anderson and completed in 1906, the Pearce Institiute (The PI) is a Category ‘A’ listed building in recognition of its national and international importance. The PI was gifted to the people of Govan in 1906 by Lady Elizabeth Pearce in memory of her husband, Sir William Pearce, chairman of the Fairfeild Shipbuilding Company and Govan’s flamboyant first member of Parliament.

The current aim of the Pearce Institute is to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare, recreation and leisure for the educational, social and moral wellbeing of the people of Govan without distinction of political, religious or other opinion.

The PI is at the heart of the regeneration of Greater Govan and it is our belief that we can enhance the lives of local people facing tremendous disadvantage.
